About the Committee
The United Nations Human Rights Council, also known as the UNHRC, is responsible for promoting and protecting all human rights worldwide and for addressing and taking action on human rights violations globally.
Freedom of the press and journalist safety have long been a matter of global concern. Despite many attempts to ensure freedom of the press and journalist safety, efforts remain incomplete and inconsistently enforced. Given the relevance of the topic in previous and ongoing conflicts on the global scene, the committee aims to come to absolute conclusions.
Delegates are expected to address the importance of press freedom in warzones and war-torn societies and governments, and examine and revise the insufficiencies in current regulations regarding the matter.
